These concerts have long been one the most popular free gigs in town. There is a lot of music packed into these shows, and this weekend includes a guest soloist: Don Palmire, a former U.S. Army Band principal euphonium player who also had played with the U.S. Marine Band and the Dallas Wind Symphony. His solos will be featured in the songs “Napoli” and “Grandfather’s Clock.”
This Kingdom of the Sun program also will include “Espirit De Corps,” “To Dance in the Secret Garden” and “A Hymn Tune Rhapsody” based upon “Softly and Tenderly.”
Shows start at 2 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Marion Technical Institute, 1614 SE Fort King St., Ocala. The band is under the direction of Les Muncaster.
