RECYLED ART EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY THROUGH FRIDAY, JAN. 19
OCALA, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2017) – A Recycled Art exhibit is currently on display at the Discovery Center (first floor) located at 701 NE Sanchez Ave. through Friday, Jan. 19. This exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This exhibit showcases 21 pieces from local artists ranging from children to seniors. Artwork in this exhibit includes collages, kinetic sculptures and assemblage, all of which utilize a range of recycled materials such as motorcycle parts, trash, old magazines, vintage clothing and more.
This exhibit is being held in conjunction with the Discovery Center’s main exhibit, Super Kids Save the World, which teaches families how to reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. Admission for this exhibit is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four. This exhibit is open to the public Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spooky Silver Springs @ Silver Springs State Park

Silver Springs, Fla. (October 3, 2017) – There’s no trick to the treats at Spooky Silver Springs, a family-friendly Halloween celebration at Silver Springs State Park. This all new event will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.

 

Designed for children 4-10 years, the first 200 children receive a trick or treat bag to collect

treats and prizes.  Spooky Silver Springs includes:

  • Trick or treat stations throughout the park
  • Halloween craft stations
  • Halloween Bingo in the ballroom at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. with signature Silver Springs prizes
  • Spooky Silver Story Time at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Fall photo opportunity for families and friends.

Farmstead Weekend is a Farmers’ Market held every Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crones’ Cradle Conserve.    Come visit and tour a working vegetable and herb farm.  Learn about naturally and carefully grown foods which nourishes and energizes you and your family.  The farm store carries fresh picked vegetables, jams, jellies, honey, pickles and other items grown and prepared on the farm.

Trunk-or-Treat at the Forest Community Center @ Forest Community Center

Join us at the Forest Community Center for Trunk-or-Treat! Enjoy an afternoon of tram rides, games, music and….CANDY!

Want to lend a helping hand to this awesome community event? We are accepting candy donations at the Parks and Recreation main office. Candy should be individually wrapped and in unopened bags. Help us make this year’s Trunk-or-Treat another success.

Put on your favorite costume, get out there and have some Halloween fun with the whole family!
