Farmstead Weekend is a Farmers’ Market held every Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crones’ Cradle Conserve.    Come visit and tour a working vegetable and herb farm.  Learn about naturally and carefully grown foods which nourishes and energizes you and your family.  The farm store carries fresh picked vegetables, jams, jellies, honey, pickles and other items grown and prepared on the farm.

Crones’ Cradle Conserve, a not for profit foundation, located 6.4 miles east of Citra on CR 318 or 6 miles west of the CR315/318 caution light  near Orange Springs at 6411 NE 217th PL, Citra, FL.    Farm visits are free to the public, except during special farm events. Please no pets or tobacco.   Plants, fresh produce, value added farm products, books, farm and fine crafts are available for purchase daily at the Farm Store. Noted Author to Present “The Underground Life of Plants: How Roots Work”

Craig Huegel, noted Florida gardening author, will present “The Underground Life of Plants: How Roots Work” 6:00 pm, Monday, February 27, at the Florida Native Plant Society meeting in the Belleview Public Library. Dr. Huegel is a naturalist, professor, nursery owner, radio D.J and a very engaging speaker. Craig is the author of multiple popular books on landscaping for wildlife, gardening with wildflowers and landscaping with native plants. He co-founded the Cooperative Urban Wildlife Extension Program, established the Florida Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program and has received numerous state and regional awards for his environmental education, restoration and preservation work.

Monthly meetings of the Marion Big Scrub chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society are free and open to the public and are held the last Monday of the month at the Belleview Public Library, 13145 SE County Hwy 484, Belleview, FL 34420. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Belleview Public Library’s native wildflower garden.
