Marion County’s famously rich forests have drawn hunters for hundreds of years, and the tradition continues today. Many of the county’s—and region’s—finest hunting opportunities lie within the vastness of the Ocala National Forest, which is home to a variety of hunts throughout the year. For a condensed version of Florida hunting opportunities and seasons, view this document from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. Licenses are required, and you can receive yours or learn more at 1-888-HUNT-FLORIDA or the FWC Web site.
The national forest is also home to Ocala Rifle Range, where shooters can sharpen their skills from sunrise to sunset each day. This is a great way to begin or end a hunting expedition “on target.”
