The OMCVCB has a staff of three employees. Matthew Dunn serves as the lead of the organization’s Sports Division. Dunn was recruited by Ann Sternal, Executive Director of the Ocala/Marion County VCB who oversees his efforts.
“We are delighted to have Matt on our team,” Sternal said. “He brings tremendous sports experience and a drive to succeed. Marion County has a great diversity of sports venues and Matt will help us share them all with the world.”
Dunn feels that the Tourist Development Council and bed tax are not the only advantages that Marion County offers event directors looking for a place to compete.
"It’s the venues that Marion County offers, including those located at Central Florida Community College, Marion County Parks, and the Parks and Recreation Departments in the sports-friendly towns of Belleview, Dunnellon and Ocala that assist us in attracting events.
Additionally after the competition, we can also offer event directors, participants, athletes, spectators and coaches opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, horseback riding and fun at our affordable attractions like Silver Springs, Wild Waters Waterpark and the Appleton Museum of Art.”
