40th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid
Overview
The 2nd Battalion, Hardy’s Brigade will be at the Florida Horse Park November 1st through the 3rd. This annual reenactment of the Ocklawaha River Raid allows exhibitors to step back in time as you walk among an authentic camp ground complete with Civil War Sibley Tents, horse drawn wagons, camp fires preparing supper, and plenty of soldiers dressed in authentic military uniforms. Reenactment groups will portray a Confederate Infantry Regiment battling against the Union Party after a small group of Union soldiers raided and stole eighty gallons of syrup and two hundred containers of sugar and other property from the Marshall Plantation in East Marion County. Battle reenactments complete with gun fire will take place Saturday and Sunday. Demonstrations, vendors, food concessions and the opportunity to interact with reenactors will also be available.
Admission is $10 per carload, so load up the family and experience a piece of history.
