Get Ready to Groove!
Every March, Retro Sounds transforms the First Friday Art Walk into a musical trip through time! This year, we’re bringing you the soulful sounds of Motown and the 1960s. The night will feature live performances by talented artists, transporting everyone straight to the golden era of Motown with all your favorite classic hits. Get ready to make the scene, because this night is going to be a blast!
On March 6, 2026, Retro Sounds “Can’t Slow Down” with a night of music, style, and dance, celebrating the legendary Motown sound and iconic artists who made it famous, like The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder.
The evening kicks off with a lively dance performance by Dance by Sheila from 6:00–6:30 p.m., followed by a themed dance lesson from 6:30–7:00 p.m. led by Arthur Murray Dance Center — where participants can learn some of the era’s signature moves like The Jerk, The Twist, The Mashed Potato, and The Funky Chicken.
Then, everyone will be “Dancing in the Street” as O-Town Motown, an Orlando-based band, takes the stage for a two-hour headlining performance! They’ll have everyone movin’ and shakin’ with classic hits like “My Girl,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.” With funky beats, smooth grooves, and soulful melodies, this show will be a full-on celebration of Motown magic!
Guests will also enjoy over 40 visual art displays along the downtown sidewalks and free 1960s-themed activities hosted by local arts organizations on the Downtown Square. Local shops and restaurants will keep the good times rolling with extended hours, and a vintage car show by the Ocala Street Cruisers will add even more retro flair to the night.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress in their favorite ‘60s style and bring their own chairs to the Downtown Square.
