Lake Eaton Loop and Sinkhole Trail
Overview
High in the sand pine/scrub oak forest is the Lake Eaton Sinkhole Trail, winding through palmetto and deer moss to a dry sinkhole about 80 feet deep and 450 feet wide. A choice of three different hiking routes lead to the rim of the sinkhole, where an observation deck allows you to take in the magnitude of this geological feature.
Access to the area is via unimproved roads that may, at times, be deep in soft sand. An unimproved parking area is shared by both the Lake Eaton Trail and the Lake Eaton Sinkhole Trail.
Hours of Operation: Dawn to Dusk
