42nd Annual Ocklawaha River Raid
Overview
The time was March 1865. In those closing months of the American Civil War, Union and Confederate met in battle along the Ocklawaha River east of Ocala in what would be the only engagement of that war to occur in Marion County.
November 7 and 8, 2026 the past will come to life at the 42nd Annual Ocklawaha River Raid Civil War Reenactment Living History Weekend. Union, Confederate, and civilians reenactors will once again gather at the Florida Horse Park (11008 S. Highway 475) near Ocala. The pristine rolling acreage of this site provides the fine setting for "step back in time". Authentic Union and Confederate encampments, civilian homestead, historic displays, vendors of Civil War era wares, and more will be open for the public to wander through.
Feel free to converse with the re-enactors, many of whom are very knowledgeable about the time period and role they portray. Bring the youngsters along for a scavenger hunt among the camps and displays (list of items to find provided on site along with small prizes).
The event is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday. Battle reenactments featuring infantry, artillery, and cavalry re-enactors take place at 2:00 PM each day. Food concessions will be on site.
Admission is by donation at individual discretion; $10 per carload is requested.
Bring the family and enjoy a part of Florida and American history brought vividly to life.
