A Celebration of Faith, Hope, and Resilience

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation, we pause to recognize the "Freedom Fighters" who have served with valor and changed the course of history.

Special Guest Speaker: Bruce Seaman

We are honored to welcome Bruce Seaman, a retired minister and local historian who has dedicated years to uncovering the hidden narratives of Black soldiers in Florida.

He is the author of the compelling book, "To Succeed Where Others Failed: The Untold Story of the Marshall Plantation Raid".

In March 1865, just weeks before the end of the Civil War, a daring and unique mission took place right here in Marion County. Led by Black Soldiers, the raid was planned and executed by a 30-man team of mostly Black Union soldiers from the 3rd and 34th U.S. Colored Troops (USCT).
