Independence Day Weekend in Ocala/Marion

The 4th of July is all about celebrating our freedoms, and what better way to do that, than enjoying our homeland with our families and friends?

With large gatherings of crowds to watch fireworks paused right now, there are still plenty of fun ways to make new memories with your friends and family. From outdoor adventures in the moonlight to the patriotic sounds of a symphony orchestra, here are some ideas to tap into the red, white and blue this July 4th in Ocala/Marion County.

Country Concert at the Ocala Drive-In

Wynonna & The Big Noise Live is performing in-person live at the Ocala Drive-In on July 3! Attendees can watch and listen to the fun concert from the safety of their own vehicle. The drive-in theatre also offers classic movie snacks and other tasty treats to keep you company during the show.

Ocala Symphony Orchestra’s Salute to the USA

An Ocala Symphony Orchestra tradition, The Red, White and OSO Blue: A Salute to Independence will be on July 4 at 3 pm in the Reilly Arts Center. This is a live concert where you will hear classic renditions of our great country’s melodies that will have you feeling patriotic to the core. The capacity will be limited this year for social distancing purposes, so if you cannot get a ticket or choose to stay home, it will also be live streamed for free! Watch it here.

Veterans Memorial Park

We get to enjoy a beautiful holiday weekend in our amazing country thanks to the bravery and sacrifices of our service members and veterans. A great way to honor them is to visit the Ocala – Marion County Veterans Memorial Park. The park has benches throughout, flags flying representing the branches of the military, monuments remembering heroes and more. A visit to the park is truly a must for Independence Day. We also encourage all our veterans, whether visitors or residents, to check out some of the veteran friendly things to do in Ocala/Marion County.

Downtown Market

The Ocala Downtown Market is back again every weekend and with July 4 falling on a Saturday, the market with be extra special with live music, vendors and snow cones. The market is from 9 am – 2 pm. The market is animal and kid friendly, so bring the whole family!

Full Moon Zip Line Tour

Have a moonlit adventure soaring through canyons this Independence Day weekend. Every month The Canyons Zipline and Adventure Park offers a night time zip line tour during the full moon and this full moon falls on Friday July 3! Light your way through the zip line tour with glow sticks and finish out the final zip across Gator Lake ;).

Who said you need fireworks to light up the night on July 4? Get Up and Go Kayaking at Rainbow Springs offers a nighttime tour in their clear kayaks on the weekends! Once the sun goes down, the kayaks light up Rainbow Springs with LED waterproof lights. For the 4th, Get Up and Go is offering a special Full Moon tour.

Taste Some BBQ

Pulled Brisket, mac n’ cheese and cornbread… nothing feels more like summer in the USA than good BBQ. In Ocala/Marion County, we are not lacking in that! Some of the locals’ favorite BBQ stops are Big Lee's Serious About Barbecue in Ocala, Artman Country Smokehouse in Summerfield and Brick City Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar in Downtown Ocala. Camp Under the Stars

Maybe you don’t have fireworks, but what about a campfire or shooting stars? Set up a tent and spend quality time with friends or family in our great outdoors under the stars at one of our many campsites this July 4. There are dozens of campgrounds in Ocala/Marion County including places like Ocala National Forest, Rainbow Springs State Park and Silver Springs State Park.
